what a fun, high-energy cold rain! i love that they roll right into to a pretty laid back lovelight, lay it down smooth and then pick it right up in the jams. great flow, great energy. and the other one! damn. DAMN! this is the kind of show that makes me feel alive. every molecule in my body, completely and undeniably radiating with life. they play it out, and then they go further and further, and i'm right there with them, and the jams keep pulling me in until my brain is vibrating. the only thing i can do is get in with the flow, there's nothing else to do. stop whatever i'm doing and let them do their thing. being present for them is like giving back all the love they give us. this is the dead for me. who knew music could feel this good. what a gift

the recording is deliciously crisp and clean -- i can't believe this was done in '67! what a treat! thank you, thank you once again, charlie!

Subject: "Other one" lyrics
Im gonna do my best to try and guess the lyrics for the other one:

When I woke up this morning, my head was not intact
I asked my friends at the valley show me where it's at
It crawled up inside of me, and the dust clouds blew away
And the heat came round and busted me for smilin on a cloudy day

(chorus)

The heat down at jail, they weren't very smart
They taught me how to read and write, they taught me the precious heart
When I broke out of jail, I learned that right away
They didn't need tell me about smilin or runnin away

Thats my best guess. theyre not the real lyrics, but thats just what i hear when i listen to this version

This is friggin' amazing. The walls are starting to drip. Pass around the Kool-Aid!

Thanks Charlie. Unlike the other ones, you didn't break up The Other One.

Trying to separate the voodoo of the fact that this is a fine '67 recording of the Dead vs. the merits of the actual show they played is almost pointless; suffice it to say that this is full-throttle, high-energy Dead; Lovelight has Jer's fingers barely leaving the fretboards - shame about that cut at the end.

An important document of the changing times as well as a great show in itself.

Subject: Great Upgrade To A Great Show
nice upgrade. this sounds amazing for '67.

one of the best shows of the year here. includes the first TOO, which compares in greatness to versions from '68 and '69.
